I agree mostly but you do need some time, that was sort of the key, not the actual timeframe. The best jokes one month later would not work regardless how good they were. Well anywhere in the US. Even you said a decade later, that’s over half an adult worth of time for a human growing up.
Anyone else remember South Park episode Jared has Sides? Takes 22ish years before something is funny. Probably not this but it was pretty close to that for timing.
As a kid I rarely listened to anything, these days I put on Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy radio show, just go bacl to the start I’ve heard up to the third phase often but not the further ones as much. In the more recent past it may have been a Harry Potter (UK) book or again Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy voiced by Stephen Fry. Guess that’s a lot of UK stuff considering I’m Canadian, but Fry has such a nice voice to drift off to.
Oh I had no idea they could take that long, the bridge I knew about obviously handled much smaller ships I think like 15mins was max for the bridge time from the city I knew. Of course this city was still like 30mins driving end to end (in better traffic) so not huge. Appreciate the reply, thank you, learned something which is always a bonus.
Okay I have no drawbridges close by, is it because traffic backs up so much or because the drawbridge takes so long? I imagine a combination so really curious on the drawbridge time needed I guess.
Used to live in a city that would raise a bridge for a ship but I tried not to travel that way if possible. It was on the coast so you could drive around, though probably worse traffic felt like it was moving.
From the guy that also had ‘executive time’ blocked off many (most? All?) mornings of his presidency, he only wanted to be in front of the cameras. Trump has never worked for what would amount to a full time day in his life I bet.
Amazes me that a grifter who I doubt anyone would truly trust to babysit or even be a manager at a fast food joint gets so much support and offered access to some of the world’s most secret Intel.
Also doesn’t that open up to vouchers for Christian schools, which of course is a big bonus. I’m not from the States so fuzzy on how that side works exactly.
Edit,I do mean a bonus for the fanatical right that wants a Christian state, not a bonus for freedom.
Two Hortas at the same time man.
Shame you were down voted, everyone likes their own things. I preferred the first one until the Nolan ones myself (lived in the middle of nowhere was actually one of the few theatre movies I saw) but there was a horrible drought of superhero movies for those decades and any Batman was fun to get.
The upside of having no real stances is you can throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks towards your benefit.
Also an upside of never implementing what you promised it doesn’t matter what you said last.
I assume that’s from Invasion of the Body Snatchers? I’ve only seen the pose spoofed in other media, most memorable being Space Quest IV (think it’s that one, been a few decades since playing the series now). Mean to watch it someday, maybe a good time in remeberance.
You think there can only be one god? That sounds limiting. I don’t believe in any, but say does Buddhism really contradict most of Christianity real values? Like be good to people (help the less fortunate) try to let things go to not burden your well being (praying for forgiveness), respect others (do unto others). Besides having to actually believe in a god what’s the difference between the two? Though the Buddhist view I’m thinking of doesn’t require a god either but both seem to have teachings of compassion and love for your fellow person (some restrictions apply when dealing with intolerant types). I’m not saying you shouldn’t have faith but don’t say one has to be wrong.
I kinda thought he was attempting a joke but he only knows how to be mean for a laugh and has no idea why an actual joke works. But since his fans will cheer for anything mean it doesn’t help either. Like the toddler that learned people laugh when they say a swear word, let’s just keep doing that until nap time.
Yeah and it’s so annoying some people don’t want to realize how awful he is when he pulls this crap. Like they take his word as gospel, the dude who lies about the colour of the sky.
I get that they don’t want to be wrong but maybe the lesson is, we have to teach people it’s okay to accept we’re wrong and to change our ways. Digging into a bad hole is as bad as being bombed into one.
First year programming in the late 90s … segmentation fault? I put printfs everywhere. Heh. You’d still get faults before the prints happened, such a pain to debug while learning. Though we weren’t really taught your point of the comment at the time.
Least that was my experience on an AIX system not sure if that was general or not, the crash before a print I mean.
Going back awhile now too for that no install right? Like didn’t PS3 have some installs? My memory is fuzzy on when it exactly started, but yeah it was nice to just pop in the media (cart, disc) and play. That was a great perk of console games, especially rentals, though there was a small time I could rent PC games when I moved to a city in the late 90s. These days I mostly play on PC anyways so always install but it was nice for the first few decades of my gaming to not require it.
There’s a whole movie using the same rhythm ‘dont look up’ that, I assume, it was modeled after. I’m sure his narcissism is clutching for some control these days and it’s driving him mad.
Yeah has there been anything, that Trump’s been in charge of, not lied about the smallest thing? It’s pretty much a prerequisite for working under him. All things he leads is to puff his ego to the media and funnel any revenue to his own bank account. Then go bankrupt so Trump can keep the cash.
Not if the place doesn’t do daylight savings time, and not all places in a timezone will do that (least in North America) so you need extra code if they do or do not. It becomes a pain after awhile when you do it in multiple projects. Technically one extra setting but it’s still a pain to make sure it’s handle properly in all cases, especially when the previous programmer decided to handle it for each case individually, but that’s a different issue.
Also when you deal with the times, say in .Net you gotta make sure it’s the proper kind of date otherwise it decides it’s a local system date and will change it to system local when run. Sure it’s all handled but there are many easy mistakes to make when working with time.
I probably didn’t even get to the real reason, I sort of picked this up on my own.
