While I agree that we have a duty to avoid unethical brands whenever possible, there’s just no way to escape them all. I live in a poor country and I there’s a lot of “bad stuff” I have to buy just because it’s what I can affford at the moment.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

Work until you have no more energy left to live. Wait for your day off from work to live. Don’t live because you have no energy left (plus the anxiety from having to work the next day). Feel like shit because you wasted your day off.

    Repeat, repeat, repeat and die.

  • Take care of your mental health, folks. I was feeling tired all the time, endured it for years, then all of a sudden I just broke up and started crying all day long for no particular reason and it was hell, took me months to get back on my feet.

Feeling tired all the time is NOT normal.

  • Careful with that way of thinking, because labeling everyone who fails as “idiots” means that if you fail (and we all do sometimes), the idiot would be you. And people don’t have to die or live a miserable life for failing, because we have no control of a lot of things in life that can make us fail.

  • “Freedom” can be used to justify lots of really bad stuff. Meta has too much money to be trusted, they WILL fuck the Fediverse up eventually for more profit on the first chance they get (and people with lots of money always get those chances).

And it’s not just about morality and the fucked up stuff that’s happened on Meta, Iike the Cambridge Analytica scandal. I stopped using Facebook years ago because of the low quality of the content being posted there. And last week I logged back in to sell some stuff and oh boy, the content managed to get even worse.

I don’t want growth just for the sake of growth. We don’t need big corporations getting involved.
