    I did haha whoops

Though I also feel them on the dad forcing you to do manly stuff. My dad was always like “why don’t you have a girlfriend yet” constantly since I was 9 or “you should play sports not play on the computer” n shit like that. He doesn’t do any of that now that my computer stuff has me making more money than him though haha fuck you dad

  • Basically that weak contact before the device finishes being screwed in would cause a lot of arcing which would definitely cause a short circuit and would definitely trip your breaker almost constantly. The reason lightbulbs can be screwed in is not so much that it’s a convenient way to design an installable electronic but more that lightbulb companies wanted to create a design that would be so easy to replace any person could do it without any training.

So Edison hired a team of engineers to design an easy and safe application and they made the screw in application such that the contact would only get close enough at the very end of screwing and so that none of the metal would be able to contact human skin, avoiding electrocution and minimizing arcing.

For literally any higher draw application this would cause arcing so intense it would flip a breaker or possibly destroy the device and cause a fire. If you want a real life example just take a portable heater, set it to on and plug it into the wall but make that plugging motion last 3-5 seconds. WARNING you will at the very least flip a breaker and at the worst cause a fire and destroy your wall outlet, so don’t actually try this at home lmao

  • I paid for Netflix, cancelled it and got Disney+ instead when they cracked down on password sharing. I am more than happy to end my subscription to Disney and go full pirate, I don’t care and I live in Canada so I’ll never face repercussions.

I’d love to support the creatives but seeing all these strikes it’s not like the execs are paying them livable wages anyways. They complain about not making enough money on streaming then vote to increase just the executives pay by insane margins annually, I can see through your deception execs.

If you are going to hoard your wealth so will I, and when the economy dies cause we are all hoarding our pennies I won’t feel bad for you while you look up from the bounds of the guillotine.

  • I’m gonna get a lot of hate for saying this but I WANT there to be ads on Lemmy, for developers of apps and hosters, I want there to be a way to fund the fediverse without everyone needing to pay money out of pocket. If you don’t want that that’s fine I don’t care but I want more people on Lemmy contributing more and it being free and still being able to support full time developers without being dependent on donations is a huge hurdle that will make or break the fediverse IMHO

Edit: to add onto this a lot of the people who cry about data security are not constantly running a proxy server with a VPN, I doubt they have an independent routing firewall, they probably use unsecured applications all the time, there are very few people on here where a Lemmy app will be their biggest data security flaw. 99% of y’all are not Mr Robot please stop pretending to be
