Internalizing those thoughts on yourself I’d say apathy and avolition. If you’re actively worried about people not caring about you, its more loneliness and self shame mixed with general anxiety.

This isn’t necessarily what one ought to tell a depressed person, but I believe to some degree it’s actually kinda true. Like, people act like they care but very few people genuinely want to help others through their depression. It’s rough. The isolation is self perpetuating. But who can blame other people, they have their own issues to deal with, they don’t need to handle your burdens on top of that.

That said, some people do actually genuinely care and it might be hard to tell at first. But, as cliche as it is, you’ve gotta care about yourself first. Which is also hard because there is that voice in your head telling you that you suck and nobody will ever love you. Or that you’d be better off if you swerve into that oncoming truck. When you wake up, when you’re trying to fall asleep. When you make a mistake. When you do something well but you can’t even accept that win because reasons. That voice is there.

Figuring out how to block that voice, or overcome it long enough that you can enjoy little things is a first step. It doesn’t get easy, but it will get easier.

  • It’s a lot easier to shovel a foot of snow thrice than it is to shovel 3 feet of snow that’s compacted, melted down a bit, formed a freezing layer on top and ice on the bottom, and now your shovel is broke because you were trying to pry up that ice with 60lb of snow on top of it.

But at that point you say fuck it and just pay a guy to swing by with his plow and throw out some salt.

    I appreciate the sentiment though.

  • If it were the latter she could have still enjoyed live performances (assuming those people were good musicians playing in a good venue) but yeah sounds like she just didn’t like music. Which, to me, is crazy. When people say they don’t really listen to or don’t like music, I literally can’t even imagine what that’s like. There is so much diversity in music, especially now. Playing instruments has been a part of human history for at least 40,000 years and we’ve been singing as long as we’ve had vocal cords.

  • So, like, obviously you’re a fucking idiot but beside that what are you even talking about? I’m not going to bother reading your unhinged reply, but seriously, it’s not like anyone is up in arms about this in the comments or frankly care all that much.

Why was it a concern? There’s a valid question, it was an unidentified white powder it could have been something dangerous. Okay there’s a reasonable explanation.

But again, nobody really cares. Wow, people use drugs. Gasp. Get a fucking grip. I’ve found most people who are critical of government leadership using drugs are critical of the hypocrisy, not the drugs themselves, because they understand prohibition is taking away their liberty. Actual liberty, not the kind of hate mongering fascists call liberty.

If people actually cared about something like this happening in China, I’d wager, is because it would be surprising somebody would be brave enough to obtain cocaine and then bring it into a government entity in a totalitarian regime where literally fucking killing you is the punishment for possession.

But again, not gonna read your reply. There’s actually an instance for idiots like you, maybe go find lemmygrad so you can be coddled in your safe space with like-minded shitbags instead of bringing your weird shit here.

  • Yes, submit a GDPR/CCPA (Reddit is in California, so they are legally required to serve these request to anyone ‘protected’ by US laws) request. It’s expensive and time consuming for them. It should also help you confirm if all of your data has actually been deleted. They have 30 days to comply with the request.

My plan is, one I get my data and confirm everything is deleted, to submit another request if any data was found and will repeat this until all of the data is gone. Only then will I finally submit one more out of spite followed by immediately deleting the account. Honestly not sure how that will affect them processing it but I’d imagine it should then indeed confirm the account itself is ‘deleted’.

  • Exactly my reaction as well. The only ‘benefit’ she lists that I can truly see is ‘greater visibility into the code everyone else is working on’ but frankly that seems like it could be a burden as well.

Sometimes you don’t need to know. If your team organizes it’s projects and assignments well, you very well may be able to work on your small piece and integrate it without really needing to know every little thing every other person is working on.

With frequent commits branches just seem like an easier way to resolve conflicts as well as speed up the ability for others to test and merge their changes while you can resolve issues with a build.
