Oof that’s a tough one… mull to 5 is rough, they probably figured they’d have a better chance to draw those lands, especially if the curve was good.

Esper taking a huge chunk of the field, but honestly still pretty diverse metagame. It might have something to do with the bigger card pool. I’m excited to see what comes out on top!
There are dozens of us! I think the book is enjoyable if all you’re expecting is a fun but shallow ride. If it’s been hyped up, it’s going to be disappointing. A lot of reviews treat it like the pinnacle of the genre, which is ridiculous.
I agree with your main points, but I don’t think that just because something has been the status quo it doesn’t deserve scrutiny. There are those out there who feel that this is an issue. For them, the best time to explore it is now. At this point it’s futile, but I think it’s important that we re-evaluate our laws and policies when there’s a group asking for it. We just need to make sure the people making the decisions at the end of the day are competent…
Honestly, that’s great that you enjoy them! I think the negativity is the sets aren’t self-contained. Once they’re released, they’re a part of magic and the eternal formats forever. Especially for those who have played for decades, that identity shift of the game is jarring.
My take is the two UB and MH3 in the lineup are very polarizing, leading to negative perceptions overall.
While I don’t feel as negatively about these sets as the other poster, the attempt to be “flashy” strikes me the wrong way. Even though it’s been years now, I feel the same was true for the sets you listed in your response.
I understand that they’re trying to market to a broad audience and generate hype for cool new worlds / themes / crossovers, but I’d prefer if the sets were slower and we spent more time on each plane.
I realize this topic has been beaten to death and I have a bit of old man bias with this, but I’m not thrilled that trend is continuing.
I’m sure the next few days before the surgery are going to be tough emotionally for both of you. It sounds like your SO likely doesn’t realize how worried they are or how much it’s affecting them, but giving them a little space is a good move.
Try not to beat yourself up for getting upset - it’s a perfectly normal reaction, especially in a stressful situation like this. Luckily there’re a few days before the procedure so you can hopefully discuss it and be supportive of each other. This internet stranger is sending love!
Wow wasn’t expecting to see an Addie LaRue reference today! Who’s to say that the thought of “Ralph” doesn’t trigger thoughts or feelings in an individual that affects them later on today, later on this week, etc. I agree it’s a beautiful sentiment.
P.S. That’s probably my favorite book I’ve read in the last few years.
Interesting! So if I’m understanding correctly, the scare about YouTube stopping adblocked users was being caused by the Enhancer for Youtube extension? If so, that’s a relief.
Came here to post something similar. I’m in my 30s but can’t resist going for a little “cart-ride” in the parking lot when going back to my car.
That’s a great point, and I wouldn’t mind if all instances used that policy.
What the heck… That sounds like an absolutely miserable experience. I would have done the same. It wasn’t an optional boss or anything?
It’s been a while since I’ve used it, but the site “clicked” with me quickly. I used to be an avid tappedout user
