Extra: while meant for terminal usage, you can use the mouse to interact, can run programs from ssh sessions, and I believe they’ve added the ability to take your TUI into web browsers.

…. Oh, also not restricted to Linux. It does generally work with Mac and windows (would recommend using windows terminal from windows store, it makes things look right, whereas command prompt does not display correctly.

I believe I saw a story about a Russia state media person proposing using tactical nukes on their own territory. I don’t think they actually would, but Russia may… Let the enemy group up in your own territory, and nuke it… other than humanitarian concerns for their own citizens, other countries ability to complain would be dulled if they were nuking their own internationally recognized territory.

Honestly, probably a great tactic to act as a deterrent in future wars (such as with the US).

All I want to know is:

1. Can I watch Twitch streams on it?
2. Does it have a built in browser, I can watch videos from non-app services on?

I’ve been using roku for what feels like 15 to 20 years. I’m finally ready to buy an Apple TV just to be able to watch Twitch on it. If Google TV Streamer either has an official Twitch app, or can install normal android apps, like the Twitch app from the play store, and has a web browser that can play videos from standard websites, I am sold.

If someone has, or buys a streamer, please let me know with a reply.

For others, I set up uBlock at minimum.

For myself uBlock + uMatrix.

If on a computer need more security uBlock + uMatrix + NoScript.

uBlock and uMatrix can block scripts, but I find NoScript’s fine grain control to be user friendly. Makes it a pain to browse the web though, until you setup each of your normal sites.

Shop I worked for in 2005… I think … ran cards when the connection was down and took card impressions, and I think the transactions were all auto submitted when the connection came back up.

The Bethesda acquisition has shown all we needed to know about how an Activision Blizzard acquisition would go. I hated seeing every pro-acquisition argument being about Sony and Call of Duty, and promises for Call of Duty to be on PlayStation.

I don’t play Call of Duty, I don’t care about it, I don’t even game much, but when I do, it is PC. Allowing further consolidation of Microsoft and Sony of other games studios is just not good for consumers or the market, it doesn’t matter which ‘team’ you are on.

That is a special kind of speed run. I’m impressed 30% of Greeks still have a favorable view of Russia last year… I can’t imagine it is still that high. I really want to know the 2024 numbers, but only barely only half way through the year; still, I’d love to know current sentiment of not just Greece’s population, but worldwide, country by country, and how it’s progressed in the past decade (conveniently a decade since the Crimean invasion).

OMG, I’m dealing with a developer right now that is dealing with patient collected samples in several timezones, allowing the patients to either enter the time they collected, or use current time, and storing it in UTC time.

We do not receive any timezone data, patient collection data is showing different days than the patient could write on their samples depending on the time of day, and the developer said ‘just subtract X hours’ (our timezone)… for which not all patients would live in.

I suppose I could, if they’d provide the patient’s timezone, but they don’t even collect that. Can you just admit your solution is bad? It’s fine to store a timestamp in UTC, but not user provided data… don’t expect average users to calculate their time (and date) in UTC please.

Forums instead of social media, IRC/ICQ/AIM for chat, websites were much more static… unless using Flash, newgrounds full of Flash games.

FTP/IRC was source of media distribution until transitions to, bittorrent was new, and napster, limewire, kazaa were things. Newsgroups have existed for all time, but not really including them because less mainstream.

Windows would allow broadcast messages to just pop-up on your computer. Needed to implement your own firewall like Zonealarm, these things weren’t just default… computers kinds of just ‘directly’ connected to the internet without any appliance in the way at first.

Edit: Oh yeah, and Steam didn’t exist, so games were bought individually in boxes at stores, and valve games were like sharing your IP with friends, listing of servers… speaking of, early Counter Strike and stuff didn’t have any anti-cheat… if you added anti-cheat to your CS server when first coming out, people getting caught would be shocked, since they didnt know they could get caught, always in denial for ‘false positives’, and really find out who of your friends aren’t actually good and were just cheating all along.

I honestly only know how to ‘block all javascript’ on uBlock. Selective blocking is less intuitive if available.

NoScript makes it easy, as does uMatrix, to selectively block/allow third party domains. uBlock is great, but I’ve always found fine-tuned features on it less intuitive.

I knew her boss, and doubt that was the reason (probably more because she was cheap entry level labor), but that some people have that take in a professional setting shocked me. I don’t think your ad-blocker recommendation will ever be what lands you a job, but I do think it’s possible for it to be the reason you don’t get a job.

I use NoScript for that purpose though. I’ve not delved into uBlocks configuration, but NoScript makes it pretty easy to only allow javascript from certain sources on the page (can easily select which third party sites to allow).
