Not only is it an old statistic, it only counts those who consumed in the last 12 months. So, people who used to smoke their entire life and then quit aren’t represented. People who don’t have the time, energy or money anymore aren’t represented

That is a different stat though.

Past 12 month is an okayish statistic to get an idea of active users, although having drawn two puffs on a joint once is bery different from wake and bake every day.

The statistics in this post are for pretty much all age groups and if they’ve tried it in the last 12 months.

Old data and most people probably won’t answer truthfully for an illegal substance use question

Eeeh any sources on that? Besides Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland where is it decriminalised?

Interesting, didn’t realize Italy and these Balkans countries had it, I actually did know about Spain should’ve included in list.

Still, we’re a far cry away from having it properly legalized, most countries would still require you to have connections with dealers etc which imo is the big one.

Even Netherlands where you can buy it over the counter no questions asked, it’s still illegal up until the point it magically appears in the coffeeshop.

Still, with Germany looking like they’ll fully legalize Canada style, that’s a good sign the rest will be able to follow since daddy Germany did it.

At this point i think it’s illigal but acceptable. It’s true that you still need to buy it off ‘criminals’ but I believe it is more or less common knowledge where they are available.

Full on legalization does not always bring with it good things. Vaping has recently been regulated and that brought some really silly requirements that streetwise politicians would never have thought of

Oh for sure, it will make it regulated and maybe more expensive, and it will get eaten up by capitalism, but still I think it’s way better that we get rid of stupid anti-drugs legislations that only serve to marginalize people and enable nasty criminal supply chains.

The good thing with weed though is that as long as it’s legalized, then that means you can just grow your own and I’m not sure what regulations could do about that.

With the exception of a medical perscription weed it’s very much not decriminalised in Switzerland.

Well it’s yellow on the map the other guy linked. Decriminalised just means they don’t prosecute you for consumer amounts not that it’s legal.

Well it’s yellow on the map the other guy linked.

The yellow says “CBD weed with < 1% THC”.

That’s like saying underaged drinking is legal because alcohol-free beer is unrestricted.

Can’t see that anywhere on the wiki link but searching directly I see that’s the Swiss rule. I also see simple possession was reduced to fines. Bit cheeky if they include countries with such rule as decriminalised, which is making my point that there’s still a long way to go in Europe.

I think this is false, most countries have not decriminalized. It’s a very slow and frustrating process here.

It’s ironic that Netherlands is only the fifth highest despite being the only European nation to legalize recreational cannabis.

Recreational cannabis is not legal in the Netherlands as far as I know. It’s just unenforced under certain conditions.

Personal possession of up to 5 grams and/or 5 cannabis plants is decriminalized for the general public, but it is still illegal. Sale by licensed shops is legal.

Belgium is similar, up to 3g decriminalized, but no sale is allowed, unlike the Netherlands, so Belgians legally have to go to the Netherlands to get weed. Great for the local Belgian economy 😂

And Portugal is sitting pretty low at 5.1% even though it is depenalized here, while France is #1 with super strict laws and a lot of money going into their enforcement…

That is complete bullshit. The Nordic countries were around 10% even decades ago when sentiments were even more draconian.
