• A federal judge denied former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows’ request for an emergency stay of a ruling that sent his Georgia election interference case back to state court.
  • Meadows, former President Donald Trump’s final chief of staff, had asked U.S. District Judge Steve Jones to pause his ruling pending an appeal.
  • Meadows has also asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit for an emergency stay, arguing that Jones “egregiously erred.”

This is exactly why Trump did his best to stack the federal courts with judges that (he thought) would favor him: he knew what he was doing at the time was illegal, and he’d have to lean on them for when his time came due.
