I think the message is „Landlords and Murderers are bad people but even they are disgusted by people who use the term female to refer to women“

If you’re referring to biological women and you can’t use “female” or “women”, then what?
That’s the point; it’s unnecessary confusion on all sides.
Having to invent a word like “Cis” because of this is more cringe than just saying “female” imo and feels forced.

And “Bio Women” sounds like Bio Weapon so you can’t just shorten the word biological else you’d confuse the shit out of non-native English speakers.

You asked what to say and then said the solution, cis, was cringe. You clearly don’t want a solution you just wanna complain

You don’t want an answer, you just want to be obnoxious and butt-in.

Reread my comment because you missed the point and I’m not a babysitter anymore so I’m not teaching you how to read.

Also if you wanted this private then shoot that person a message instead of, once again, complaining in a space where anyone can comment.

Edit: if you’re offended by cis then go outside and see how many people care.

you didn’t really answer, as far as i can tell. you just took the opportunity to go on a tangential rant about hard it is for you to use simple words to communicate more clearly and be respectful of others. you want to call women ‘females’? that’s your perogative, but don’t be surprised when people look at you like a weird objectifying misogynist ferengi.

Having to invent a word like “cis”… lol have You tried education? It is one hell of a drug! Cis is a latin word. Like trans, homo, hetero, anti and so on. So maybe now you realize that “non-native speaker” is hilarious to say considering there are no native latin speaker.

Edit: btw. Trans means as much as on the other side. Cis means on the same side. Cis is literally just the opposite word of trans. So by calling trans women trans women, you imply that cis women are cis women. Crazy made-up word that have a story older than e.g. the new testament and probably older than any old testament manuscript that we have.

That’s completely irrelevant to non-native English speakers confusing “Bio Women” & “Bio Weapon”.

Ah, yes. Cis(on this side of) women… lmao. At least “homo”(man), “hetero”(other/different) & trans (beyond/across/change) actually make sense. This is because they evolved from the original Latin meaning and were introduced through natural means, instead of just grabbing the closest latin word and going “everyone has to say this now because I said so”.

It doesn’t matter anyway, because English doesn’t need this if we just keep the same meaning of “women” we’ve had(and still have if you check the definition) or used “female” instead.

Additionally “Cis” already has a meaning in English relating to molecular structure as well as “CIS” (Clinically Isolated Syndrome), etc.

Regardless, Cis still sounds cringe to say, imo.
Even tromars & juliebean have said “women” in it’s original definition repeatedly and not “Cis Women”. It’s almost as if they themselves don’t recognize the artificial introduction of “Cis” in the English language and prefer to just say “Women” instead.

Hell, When have you ever heard anyone IRL say “Cis Women”? The Only time I’ve heard it said IRL, it was being used in a derogatory manner to dehumanize biological women.

I have heard people say it. I haven’t heard anyone say it in a derogatory manner but it doesn’t matter like your experience is also only anecdotal.

trans women implies cis women. It makes as much sense as trans woman. I don’t care what some random people think. Yes, Cis existed before in science and what did it mean? Oh it means this side too. Crazy!

If you ask me, someone is very cringe and it is not the people using cis.

Yes!! Thank you. And the number of people who defend its use here on Lemmy is honestly a little alarming.

Before they come pouring in here, yes, I’m aware there are legitimate uses this way. But most of the time in casual conversation - nah, you sound gross.

Reminds me of Ferengi. I’ve used the word, obviously, but I have such a strong association of the word with the way the Ferengi on star trek say it, that even when talking about plumbing or electrical sockets, I feel sort of gross saying the word. It just feels disrespectful. :/

I’m new to Star Trek. I’m just on 2nd season of TNG. The original series is a bit too old for me, so I skipped it. I don’t have problem watching movies from 50s, I watched a lot of Hitchcock movies, but Star Trek is sci-fi and visual effect are not doing it for me.

Stay the path, friend. Tng gets better in s3, and great going forward. Those first two seasons can be a bit of a slog.

Also, I was never able to watch TOS until after I became a ride or die Trekkie. Now I love it. Lol.

I started looking at this differently after I read some Sarah J. Maas’s books. People were called female or mate there so much, especially around sexual scenes, that it felt like if the author was talking about animals instead of people.

I think the meme format is confusing. It looks like murderers are trying to stop landlords from going after people who use the term… or both murderers and landlords are afraid of people who use the term? Idk, I had to read the comments to understand what you meant.
