    It’s very worrisome and probably deserves a new model. Newspapers are a public good, so maybe they should be funded by the public like schools and libraries.

      the internet should be able to provide all information on what your local government is doing and should provide a local forum to discuss and share information about what is happening in your community

      i also think there should be a way of verifying that you live locally, so you can only contribute if you have a id posted to you, like an election card. i don’t think this identity should give away you real name and address, just verify that you are real and local

        I mean, someone has to find out what your local community is doing and write it up on the internet. That’s what reporters do, and they need to get paid for it somehow.

        Local issues are much more than just local government. News also plays a vital role in accountability and exposing corruption
