I was concerned it’d be something like this.
Title Episode Production number Stardate US release date
“Balance of Terror” 1x08 6149-09 1709.2–1709.6 1966-12-15
“Miri” 1x11 6149-12 2713.5–2717.3 1966-10-27
“The Menagerie, Part I” 1x15 6149-16A 3012.4–3012.6 1966-11-17
It’s all manner of confusing, as trekcore lists it as 11, but imdb has it as 8.
edit: memory alpha also lists it as 11, but wiki says 8
In the episode “Best of Both Worlds” it’s suggested to route power directly from the core to the deflector dish and use it as a weapon against the Borg. The gag is that instead of using the internal systems to channel power, they just strap the core’s output to the dish.
Edit: also, apparently an anime reference as pointed out by @Shipgirlboy@sh.itjust.works
From Memory Alpha:
Of Remata’Klan’s character, Morris opined, “I likened him to a samurai warrior who is loyal only to his feudal lord and that’s how I played him. The Jem’Hadar are predisposed to have that loyalty; it’s bred into them by the Vorta. His willingness to die despite Sisko’s offer of an alternative is Remata’Klan’s most honorable moment.”
This reads like Deep Thoughts… by Jack Handey
What’s more, his uncredited “Boy - Army Helmet” character in the TOS episode “Miri” was his first role.
According to the site from which it came, they are tiny phasers used to represent when a fight occurs.
That episode started so silly and light-hearted, but by the end left me sobbing.
Well, you’ve amassed enough Trek knowledge that Lower Decks is worthwhile without getting lost on most of the references. Otherwise, Strange New Worlds provides enough familiarity whilst being more modern.
Offscreen death bullshit!
Which “Best of Both Worlds” technically is, where “Family” serves as the catharsis to Picard’s ordeal.
The fact that each episode has a tidy ending instead of a cliffhanger?
Unless it’s a 2 parter. Of course, you wouldn’t rob yourself the satisfaction of simply watching both episodes back to back.
Having recently rewatched that episode is what tipped me off. The discovery (heh) of his influence over the series warranted attention. Seeing Seven’s transition from dismissal to admiration really made it special.
