“Pay us or china will take you over”.

China rolls in and takes over. TSMC foundry and its technology is then used by china.

    Good job trumpy. idiot.

Foundries have said they’d sabotage the machines if taken, so… computers won’t be made for a while if that happens.

If I was to play devil’s advocate, then I’d argue that the idea is that taiwan does not really have a choice. They’ll pay and china won’t move in.

Republicans lately have been siding with the larger power in every fight. I’d wager a pretty penny that trump would roll over if China invaded Taiwan.

Remember the embarrassing bromance he had with the Korean dictator just because he paid him a compliment and called him your excellency. Trump melted in his hands. Such a fragile ego.

Or they cant afford to pay, america is extorting the country, starts to increase military spending and china invades.

Because america wont help unless Taiwan pays.

And you just know that if somebody tried to sit him down and explain the purposes and goals of military aid to him, his attention would drift after about the fourth word, then he’d interrupt with, “Yeah but why are we paying? They should be paying us!”

Oh… hey. It just struck me - maybe he thinks that if they pay, he’ll get a percentage…

The purpose of “military aid” is to pay back the defense contractors in your district for campaign contributions, so yeah he probably does think he will (sorta) get a cut.

They pay all the time what the fuck is he talking about? They’re constantly buying weapons from us. I don’t know why I bother of course he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. What’s even the point? He just wants an excuse to let Pooh Bear do what he wants.

    And TSMC.

What a great idea. Go to war with the country that manufactures most of our stuff and charge the country making some of our most high-end stuff for the privilege of existing.

Bad news for Nvidia, but should that be good news for intel since they’re building domestic chip manufacturing?
